About Mina

I absolutely hate this part. It’s like our first date, where I have to say all the boring parts of myself that make me seem like a fully-functioning, average/ boring adult. Let me get this out:

Hi, guys! My name is Mina and I am an educator and fitness enthusiast 😒 (I don’t think I’ve ever used that word in a sentence). I am currently 30 years old at the time of this post and I am a wild Sagittarius!

I graduated from the Florida State University in 2013 with my Bachelor’s in Sociology before getting into the education field. I am currently working on my Master’s in Educational Leadership as I am an aspiring Principal.

More importantly, my fitness journey began in 2010 at the Florida State University. I received a work study position working in the gym and I was the heaviest person on staff. It was a very… humbling experience being around all of these super fit people and I did not like it! So, I decided to make a change. I began waking up at 4 AM to work out and it became my hobby. It was such a rewarding experience seeing the progress that I was making, not necessarily on the scale but moving up in weights or in building stamina on the treadmill or elliptical.

I have been active in the gym since my college days and I have noticed that I have increased my fitness and overall health since hitting the age of 30. I don’t know if it’s something psychological that makes me think that I am battling old age so I had to ramp it up, however, I am enjoying where I am athletically!

More personally, I have been dealing with some “common” uterine issues. I have had a myomectomy (which I will be discussing in a blog post soon). Also, I am preparing to have a laparoscopy for a benign ovarian cyst which will also be discussed.

My goal in creating this blog was to be more vocal about my everlasting fitness journey. At this point in time, I don’t even know what my solid goals are other than being a better Mina than I was the day before. I watch a lot of other fitness bloggers who will minimize the process of becoming fit or have not overcome the obstacles that I have been through. “All you have to do is…”

NO! So I wanted to create a blog that is authentic. That highlights the struggles that fitness and nutrition brings. That brings together information that allow individuals to create informed goals for themselves. That will allow me to express myself in the way I know best: talking my head off.
